I am very distantly related, if my genealogical research through Ancestry.com is correct. The relationship goes through my mother and grandmother. Sarah Rebecca Frazier is my 4th great grandmother. Ancestry.com also indicates that genetically I am only an 8% Scottish. But I am interested in the history of the Clan Fraser. I am not sure I qualify to be a clan member, nor exactly what that would entail nor what would be expected from me. This is an ancient connection, however it appears to be prestigious. I do not know exactly which box to check. I do not carry the Fraser name. The relationship is by birth but very far back. If your historian can help verify my tree, I would be grateful. The history is interesting, and I hope to visit Scotland one day. Here are my direct ancestors:
Rosina Jean Hassoun, Ph.D.
LLouise Hoover Hassoun
Rosina Harriet Hinshaw Hoover
William Edgar Hinshaw
Jacob Hinshaw
John Hinshaw
Sarah Rebecca Frazier (1793-1836) born Cherry Grove, Randolph, Indiana and moved to Iowa (my fourth great grand mother)
Francis Henry Frazier Sr (1760-1830) born in Guilford, North Carolina (her father)
George Thomas Frazier ( 1725-1790) born Inverness-shire, Scotland, died Guilford Randolph, North Carolina
John Bernard Frazier II born in Dunvegan, Inverness-shire ( I would like more information about him if possible. Ancestry.com indicates that his father was Thomas Fraser of Beaufort).
Thomas Fraser of Beaufort, 10th de jury Lord of Lovat (1631-1699) born at Beauly, Inverness-shire died Castle Dunvegan, Isle of Skye, Scotland
Hugh Fraser, 7th Lord of Lovat
Should such a distant connection be added to the clan map?
