My 6th great grandfather, Augustin ‘Hugh’ Fraser, was born in Inverness and fought as a member of the 78th Fraser Highlanders on the Plains of Abraham. He then played a key role during the blockade by American forces during the Revolutionary War where he was a tavern keeper. From Quebec, my ancestors came to the States to seek farmland in the Great Lakes region.
