Rene Frezel, living in 1030, had a son Simon de Frezel, which anglicized became Simon Fraser. As early as the 13th Century many Fraser descendants chose the Simson surname.In the later part of the 15th Century a ‘p’ was added to the name: my maiden name is Simpson.
