My grandfather Neil Macintosh married Martha Matilda Glasgow in St Vincents Church, Glasgow on May 29th,1913. My mother Frances Mary Macintosh was born November 9th, 1915. at Ford House, Creagory, Benbecula.
I know that my Grandfather served with the Lovat Scouts in WW 1 (maybe even the Second Boer War?). On my mothers Birth Certificate Neil MacIntosh shows his Rank or Profession as "Formerly General Marahawls (sp?), Lovat Scouts". My mother told me she was conceived in Vancouver and that would have been in February 1915. So the mystery is what were the Lovat Scouts doing in Vancouver in 1915? How did my mother get there -by train across Canada or the Panama Canal which opened in 1914? Neil was gassed in France I'm guessing sometime after November 1915. Did he serve at Gallipoli; was he in Salonika before France. After the gassing he returned to Benbecula were I met him very briefly when I was just 5. All of them are gone now but if you can direct me to a source that has regimental records, etc , I would be indebted. I did the Ancestry DNA test and was amazed when it came back 71% Outer Hebrides, 15% Scandinavian & Celtic
Sincerely, John Fulton
