My mother, a native of Georgetown, SC, USA (founded in 1729 and named after King George I of Britain), was named Mabel T. Fraser. It was handed down through the family that our ancestors came over to South Carolina from Scotland after the failure of Bonnie Prince Charlie's campaign to take back the crown for the Stuarts. The "old fox", Simon Fraser, was said to have been a relative of the first Frasers that settled in what was then the royal colony of South Carolina.
