My great, great, great grandmother was Margaret Elizabeth Fraser, born at Claymoss, Morayshire in 1828. Her father was William Fraser, born in 1893 whose baptism was witnessed by William Dunbar, town clerk of Forres. The family has always been proud of its Fraser heritage, bestowing Fraser as a middle name on one child of each of the following generations. I don't know if that makes me a Fraser by birth, or even whether our family were Frasers of Lovat – I'm still trying to track back through my ancestors and find out exactly who was who – but I do know that I've hoped from childhood that I could one day be a Fraser, myself!
