My Grandmother (father's mother) E.A. (Elisabeth) Gibbs (née Simpson) emigrated to New Zealand in the late 1940's from Fife, having been born in Duns near the border and also spending time on the Shetland Islands during WWII. My Great-Grandmother (Hannah Simpson) also emigrated to New Zealand, following my grandmother Elisabeth and other siblings and children emigrating and spent several decades of her life in New Zealand, before her ashes were taken back to the Shetland Islands to be buried alongside my Great-Grandfather William Simpson, who passed in the late 1930's.
