My paternal grandmother was a Fraser. Her grandfather was born in Nova Scotia to John Fraser and Hannah Moser. John Fraser's grandfather, Duncan Fraser, was born in Inverness in 1748 and latter married Catherine Grant. Duncan immigrated to Nova Scotia by the time he married Catherine in 1780. Duncan's grandfather, was Lord William Fraser, of Culbokie and 8th of Guisachan. His 5x Great Grandfather was Hugh Fraser, 3rd Lord Lovat who was killed at the Battle of the Shirts in 1544, when the lordship then fell to his son Alexander after his elder brother Simon was also killed at the Battle of the Shirts.
